You have a great channel . But , you are missing some people, like major people William of Orange ( Louis XIV 's greatest nemesis ) , John Churchill , First Duke of Marlborough , and Prince Eugene of Savoy . Marlborough and Prince Eugene of Savoy opened some major cans of whoop ass on King Louis ! So much so , that they almost knocked him off of his throne . And you don't even mention these guys ? Are you kidding me ?

The level of mob violence in the French Revolution was uncommon. It was 180 degrees from the respect that the wealthy had taken for granted. There were times when the English royalty worried it would happen to them, the Peasant Rebellion of 1381 came close, but the peasants gave up costing the lives of their leaders after invading London. America's riots get pretty rowdy, but so far no one's head has been paraded around on a pike, much less dragging a beheaded body.

She helped the usurper Henry vii to "conquer" the English crown, which culminated in the death of Richard III and the total anihilation of the rest of the plantagenets descendants, later her line and that of her father Louis XI (the universal spider) died out when her daughter and brother died

A king is the shepherd of the nation, his crown, his sheep, his sceptre, his haket. Louis XV, shepherd of France, let his sheep run loose, was such a bad man, that his sheep disregarded him. This sheep had know not of a master, for they never had one.

Certainly some of the charges against him were trumped up and it was not a fair trial. But other charges might have a grain of truth, like him lending his own money to the State, which was illegal.

Thats a beutifull painting of charles and marie at the begining the unicorn and the lilly represnt king solomon and wisdom etc ..the lion and harp represent David and no wonder as emperor charligman had king solomon and king David on his crown ...if we meditate that virgo is encrowned with the 12 stars of leo (the woman with a crown of 12 stars in the book of apocalypse)...we can understand that in christian catholic ritual we are like the lions and the eucharist is like the unicorn ...for the unicorn was tamed by a virgin and was killed by the lions in the great hunt ...we killed jesus christ ...but the unicorn after being killed took a different form ...like christ who was resurrected and comes to us under a different species ...we realise theas things are sacred

I read in Cervi's Last Libertines (NYRB) that if the aristos had resisted going to the guillotine as fiercely as du Barry did, maybe fewer of them would have been guillotined. But she was a commoner. They were aristocrats. Their pride and composure made it ieasy to execute them. Strange that in this case, death was not the great leveler. On the contrary, t showed class distinction.

We can’t rule out that many of the unfortunates who died in a “dignified” manner were able to purchase or otherwise obtain a soporific to calm them before execution. I’m inclined to believe this was frequently the case…!

You say, "...although she had risen to the heights of aristocratic splendour she had not acquired the same unwavering dignity in the face of terrible adversity". Some aristocrats did show great courage and dignity when sent to the guillotine. Others did not. The same is true of the poor, "common" people who faced the same fate. To say that courage in the face of death is an aristocratic trait is just a stereotype, and rather snobbish too.

She made sure Louis wasn't even informed of Council meetings, which he should have been attending. When he found out one was being held, and went there, she stood up, grabbed his arm and dragged him from the room - utterly humiliating for a reigning king. No wonder he eventually staged a coup against her. She was an atrocious parent even by the standards of the time, and as the title says, a traitor. And she still managed to guilt-trip Louis all his life! He deserved so much better than her or his father.

The history of the Czars is one of my guilty pleasures. But I've never understood Elizabeths Petrovna's motivations. He was just a baby! What harm could he have done? Exiling his mom and dad I kinda can understand. But Ivan was a child. Why imprision him and subject him to so much cruelty? Why not just send him to a monastery? Or let him leave with his parents and siblings, never allow any of them to come back on pain of death? He couldnt have been that much of a threat. But then again Im looking with the eyes of a twenty first century raised American whos country has never experienced having a royal family.

Exactly which part of her life was dignified? She was a high class prostitute. We can fancy that up with "royal mistress" but let's get real. Louis XV and parc aux cerfs was an elderly debauchee and Mme Du Barry was paid for services rendered. NONE of that is dignified.

Stories like Jean du Barry are incredibly sorrowful 😞 she only joined the aristocracy then the nobility because she was living in absolute adverse poverty and wanted to access upward socioeconomic mobility just to survive and thrive. But I also feel for jacobins as well the French Royalty, nobility, aristocracy, and the affluent bourgeoisie treated the peasantry extremely terribly no humanity was given to them I understand why they created the reign of terror
